Elevating the Summer Experience with Cupcake Vineyards
A Case Study in Capturing the Joy of Summer Through Cinematography and Video Production
In our collaboration with Cupcake Vineyards, we embarked on a creative journey to encapsulate the essence of a vibrant summer atmosphere.
Under the overarching theme of "Choose Joy," our mission was to transport the audience to a carefree summer day spent with friends, where the joy of life seamlessly intertwined with the pleasure of Cupcake Vineyards' wines.
Through my cinematography, we strived to not only showcase the product but also create a sensory experience that resonated with the audience's desire for summertime enjoyment and the pure delight of choosing joy.
Collaborative Video Production
Working alongside the dynamic Director/Producer duo, Ace Norton and Lars Ruch, and Commondeer their illustrious Production Company, our years-long professional partnership shined.
For this project, I served as the 2nd Unit Director of Photography, capturing the intricacies and subtleties of our subject matter with an array of close-up product shots. These shots were essential in conveying the essence of the project's visual narrative. It was important the images I made with my 2nd Unit team fit seamlessly into the whole project and with the cinematography by Mike Reyes’, who was the principal DP.
Beverage Cinematography
Cinematography played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life. We aimed not only to showcase the product but also to create a sensory experience that resonated with the audience's desire for summertime enjoyment and the pure delight of choosing joy.
Through meticulous attention to detail and artistic finesse, we crafted visuals that embodied the spirit of Cupcake Vineyards.
For this project I used my trusty Phantom Flex4K camera with Sigma Cine Primes and a 100mm Arri Macro.
Challenges and Triumphs
As you can imagine, filming wine at a stunning mansion during springtime in Malibu was tough! But somehow we made it through. Fortunately, our nimble 2nd Unit crew was extremely experienced and so we moved fast, knocking out all of the shots required for the boards as well as a few extra macro shots along the way.
THE RESULTS
In the end, our collaborative efforts resulted in a visually stunning and emotionally resonant commercial video that embodied the "Choose Joy" theme. This project exemplifies the power of beverage cinematography and video production in conveying a brand's message and creating unforgettable moments for the audience.
