Capturing Elegance in Motion – with Aerialist Yesenia Adams
A Case Study Highlighting human movements with Colossus motion control robot by Motorized Precision
For this test project, we set out to push the boundaries of motion control cinematography with our newest robotic powerhouse—Colossus. With a 20ft reach and lightning-fast precision, Colossus delivered dynamic and hypnotic motion control shots of aerialist Yesenia Adame, seamlessly capturing her elegant and fluid movements. This was a perfect opportunity for the Kerosene team to explore the full potential of commercial cinematography using cutting-edge robotics.
The goal was to explore the possibilities of robotic motion control cinematography for capturing human movement
The Vision:
This project was designed as a test shoot to explore the possibilities of robotic motion control cinematography for capturing human movement in a dynamic yet controlled way. The goal was to create fluid, cinematic sequences that highlighted the grace and precision of Yesenia Adame’s aerial performance, all while testing the efficiency, accuracy, and range of Colossus.
By integrating slow motion photography, intricate camera movements, and precision timing, we were able to produce commercial-quality cinematography that would be perfect for applications such as high-end fashion, luxury brand ads, and TV promos. The use of vintage prime lenses further enhanced the visual aesthetic, adding a nostalgic softness that contrasted beautifully with Colossus' hyper-precise robotic movements.

Using Vintage Lenses
Adding to the cinematic magic, the A-camera footage for the first six seconds was shot with Asahi Pentax Takumar vintage prime lenses from the 1970s, providing a dreamy bloom with crisp focus and rich texture. The combination of Colossus' high-speed motion control system and the ethereal quality of these vintage lenses created a mesmerizing visual experience, blending modern cinematography with timeless aesthetics.
The Execution
Colossus was put to the test, utilizing its 20ft wingspan to achieve sweeping, high-speed tracking shots that would be impossible with traditional camera setups. The robot’s ultra-smooth motion control system allowed us to precisely follow the movement of the aerialist, ensuring every frame was captured with the perfect balance of speed and fluidity.
To complement Colossus' capabilities, we incorporated slow motion cinematography, allowing us to emphasize the intricate details of Yesenia’s performance—every twist, drop, and extension was showcased with mesmerizing clarity. The combination of robotics and slow motion cinematography delivered a one-of-a-kind visual experience that felt almost otherworldly.
Additionally, the Asahi Pentax Takumar lenses brought a unique visual contrast, blending the soft glow of vintage glass with the precision of modern robotics. The result was a surreal combination of old-world elegance and next-generation motion control cinematography, proving that even in commercial cinematography, innovation is fueled by both new technology and classic craftsmanship.
The Result
This test shoot was more than just an experiment—it showcased the future of motion control cinematography. Colossus proved its capability to handle high-speed, high-precision movements with stunning visual results, making it the perfect tool for commercial video production, music videos, luxury product cinematography, and TV and film promotions.
By incorporating slow motion photography, robotic motion control, and vintage cinema lenses, this project demonstrated how cinematographers in Los Angeles can blend technology and artistry to craft compelling, cinematic narratives. Whether it’s for fashion, sports, or high-end product cinematography, Colossus is a game-changer in how we capture movement, emotion, and beauty.
